When you’re getting ready to jet off on your summer holidays, it can be easy to get caught up in all the excitement. However, while you’re packing your beach gear and preparing for fun in the sun, it’s important to make sure you don’t forget the travelling essentials!
Whether it’s packing what you need to travel in comfort or safeguarding your home against unwanted potential intruders while you’re away, we’re here to remind you of everything you need to travel safely this summer. With this guide, you’ll be stress-free and kicking back with the reassurance that both yourself and your belongings are safe in no time!
Essentials for stress-free travelling
First of all, it’s important to make sure you have all of the items that are absolutely essential for making sure your travels go smoothly. For example, when you pack your suitcase before a flight, a set of luggage scales can be a great help. By ensuring you don’t overpack and exceed the weight limit, you’ll avoid unwanted additional costs when you get to the airport. You should also make sure your luggage is safe with a suitcase padlock too – even if just to prevent your suitcase accidentally coming open and your underwear flying everywhere!
On top of keeping your luggage in order, you should also make sure you have everything you need to get from A to B without hassle. Don’t forget to pack all your chargers for your gadgets such as your phone and laptop, and definitely don’t forget to bring a mains travel adaptor too! There’s nothing worse than landing in a new country ready for your holidays, only to realise you’ve run out of battery and can’t plug in anywhere to power up…
Stay comfy and healthy as you travel!
Setting off and flying with all the necessities is one thing… but holidays aren’t just about getting by with the bare minimum! Really, your holiday should start the moment you’ve finished checking in at the airport, and that’s where the relaxation should start too. In this regard, a travel comfort kit will have you covered. Nothing makes a flight easier and more relaxing than a nice neck pillow and a comfy back cushion to keep your comfortable for longer flights, not to mention an eye mask to help you get some shut eye before you reach your glorious destination.
Of course, travelling in comfort also means being ready to soothe any accidental scuffs along the way. After all, travelling can get a bit hectic whether you want it to be or not, and where there’s rushing, there can be injuries too. Plus, even when you’ve landed safely and are enjoying your vacation, minor scuffs and bumps can occur during your fun in the sun! That’s why taking a small first aid kit abroad with you is a wise move. Pool-side scratches or small cuts on the beach are much less of a nuisance when you have the means to treat them!
Safeguard your home while you’re away
Finally, alongside your travel belongings and your own wellbeing, it’s important to make sure your home is safe while you’re away too. It’s a common mistake to only focus on your destination and forget about everything you’re leaving behind until the day you return… but intruders certainly won’t have that same mindset, and there’s nothing that will attract them more than a clearly vacant home! So, before you jet off, take the time to make sure your household has all the protection it needs to be safe from criminals throughout the duration of your vacation.
Of course, any invasions are highly unlikely and not something you want to worry about during a holiday… so a few small preventative steps can go a long way with putting your mind at ease. For example, 24-hour segment timers or digital timers are super affordable, and by turning on lights, TVs or radios intermittently during your absence, they create the impression that someone is still home while you’re away. And if this isn’t enough to deter would-be trespassers, motion sensor lights or even wall security spike sets are sure to send them scurrying!
