eSpares raise over £32,000 for John Taylor Hospice
January 12, 2018 | Charity News | No comments
From abseiling down a 170ft building to indulging in Krispy Kreme doughnuts – you name it we’ve done it – and its all in the name of raising funds for our friends at John Taylor Hospice. In 2017 we managed to raise a massive £32,727.74 putting our grand total of donations to £113k!
Here, we take a look at what our donation means for the hospice and the fun we had raising it.
Darren Dudley, Corporate Fundraising Manager at John Taylor Hospice, shared his thoughts:
This is amazing! Every year it amazes us the effort and dedication you put towards raising funds for the hospice.
Our Donation Can Help the Hospice Pay For:
6545 home visits from nurses
Medication for all patients for 182 days
2045 hours of complete home care
727 days’ worth of clean bedding and towels for everyone being cared for
6545 home cooked meals for people who come to stay at the hospice
13,090 doses of pain relief to people who are too weak or sick to take medication
How We Did It:
170ft Abseil
We risked our lives and raised £1,000 abseiling down the Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham City Centre! Some of us took to it more than others…
Gung-Ho
In May, we took part in a sponsored 5k inflatable obstacle course and raised over £550 in sponsorship. (The fancy dress was just for fun!)
Cakes and Doughnuts
We love a treat or two! So we willingly took part in a Krispy Kreme doughnut sale which raised over £130, along with funds from homemade cake sales (hard work I tell you!)
Pub Quiz and Raffles
Our team battled it out during the annual pub quiz event and raised over £1100 from entry fees, games and an auction on the evening. Prizes were also donated and raffled by our company throughout the year with all the proceeds going to the hospice.
And Everything Inbetween…
Buckets and Cans
Over the year we raised more than £200 just by leaving branded buckets and cans around the office.
Dress Down Days
On the last Friday of every month, we put our glad rags on and pay £1 each towards the hospice.
Christmas Card Substitute
Instead of sending out Christmas cards to staff, our board made an additional donation of £3000 to the hospice.
A huge well done to everyone at eSpares who took part and raised funds for this truly worthy cause. Here’s to 2018 where we have plenty more fun, frolics and embarrassing moments lined up to continue raising money and awareness for the John Taylor Hospice! Watch this space…
