Indesit Company – the company behind Hotpoint, Indesit, and Creda have issued a safety notice for their tumble dryers, after identifying potential concerns.
Following a review of products, potential concerns with the condenser and vented tumble dryers manufactured between April 2004 and September 2015 have been identified. The company has found that in rare cases excess fluff can come into contact with the heating element, which presents a fire risk.
As a result of the findings, Indesit Company is activating an extensive customer outreach and service plan to ensure tumble dryers owned by customers are updated to higher safety and quality standards.
Under the service plan, Indesit Company will arrange for an engineer to modify affected tumble dryers, free of charge. It’s estimated the service call will take an hour but is necessary to enhance the safety of the appliances.
You can find out if your model is affected, by entering your model number (which will be found on a sticker on the rear of your tumble dryer’s door/recess of door) on Indesit’s online model checker, before following the on-screen instructions.
The safety notice issued by Indesit Company enhances the importance of registering your appliances on manufacturer sites, as this will ensure you receive regular appliance updates and safety notices. It’s also important to make sure after every use; you clean the lint filter on your appliance – as per the manufacturer guidelines.
