5 Recipes That Prove Eggs Really Are the Best Ingredient
April 7, 2017 | Foodie Tips | No comments
You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Or a cake. Or a delicious Eggs Benedict. Eggs, you are so versatile and delicious with your runny, oozy yolks that we’re definitely not going to be able to get through this post without drooling.
Across the web, there are bloggers doing oh-so-wonderful things with eggs. At the risk of putting all of our eggs in one basket, here are our favourites which are hard to beat! (Geddit?)
Creamy, Garlicky Coddled Eggs
Coddled eggs may seem a little old- fashioned. They were most popular in days gone by, now it’s all about poached eggs (preferably served with avocado). Coddled eggs are actually quite similar to poached. They’re cooked in water just below boiling temperature, although in a pot or jar rather than directly in the pan.
If you want to try coddled eggs you can’t do much better than Kirbie’s Cravings delicious take on them!
You’ll need:
- Eggs
- Potatoes
- Cream
- Garlic
- Salt
- Parsley
The Best Omelette You’ll Ever Have?
This is a strong claim. Though, to be honest, with egg, leek and goats cheese you can’t really go wrong. There’s a certain beauty in the simplicity of this combo from A Cup of Jo and there’s only one way to see if the resulting omelette lives up to its title – give it a go yourself!
You’ll need:
- Eggs
- Leeks
- Goat’s cheese
- Butter
- Olive oil
- Salt & pepper
Classic Eggs Benedict
Eggs Benedict is perfect for those times when just one type of egg preparation isn’t enough. A poached egg and an egg yolk sauce combination is a wonderfully rich and decadent way to start any day. Especially when paired, as Sally’s Baking Addiction recommends, with fresh tomato and fried bacon.
You’ll need:
- Eggs (plus extra yolks)
- Muffins
- Bacon
- Tomato
- Butter
- White vinegar
- Olive oil
- Lemon juice
- Salt and pepper
Super Simple Deviled Eggs
Contrary to the name, there’s nothing satanic about deviled eggs. They’re called deviled because term ‘deviling food’ used to mean to add spicy ingredients. That’s exactly what Mrs Happy Homemaker does in her tasty recipe. We love this because of how simple it is to make!
You’ll need:
- Eggs
- Mayonnaise
- Mustard
- Hot sauce
- Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper
- Paprika
Decadent Chocolate Cake
Just three ingredients are needed to make this cake recipe to delight all chocoholics! It even has the added benefit of being gluten-free too. Chocolate and cake are two words that create sweet, sweet harmony when placed together and Gimme Some Oven certainly does them justice with this mouth-watering recipe.
You’ll need:
- Dark chocolate
- Eggs
- Unsalted butter
And that’s it!
