The Ultimate Appliance Checklist for a Stress Free Christmas

Are your appliances ready for the Christmas onslaught? There’s only one way to know for sure!
We’ve made a list. We’ve even checked it twice. And with it you can make sure your appliances are prepared for any Christmas eventualities.
Free Fridge Space
Fridge space is premium at this time of year. Old half eaten bottles of hot sauce, jars of pickled onions and pots of jam cluttering the back of the fridge shelves may have to be sacrificed for the greater good.
A Sparkling Clean Fridge
Give the entire fridge a quick wipe down to store your turkey with the respect it deserves. You may be surprised (and slightly disgusted) at what you find lurking underneath your vegetable crisper drawer.
A Grease-free Oven
Old grease could ruin the taste of your Christmas roast. And that’s just unacceptable. Excessively dirty ovens can even be a fire hazard whereas a clean oven is just so much more wonderful to work with. Get scrubbing!
Oven Shelves A Plenty
Do you have enough shelves in your oven to store everything you’re planning to cook in it? Roast bird, potatoes, parsnips, stuffing, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire puddings, spiced red cabbage…. there are a lot of foods that need oven space. If you don’t have enough shelves, get some spares quick!
A Fresh Smelling Dishwasher
Bad odours coming from your appliance? Try giving the filter a rinse to get rid of any old food clogged in it and running a dedicated cleaner through your machine too to banish them. That way Christmas dishes will be a breeze rather than the ultimate chore.
Sturdy Fridge and Freezer Shelves
Replace any wobbly or cracked shelves before they give up on you. The alternative? Crushed Christmas pudding when the top shelf of your fridge collapses. Christmas with no pudding? That’s sure to get a frosty reception.
Plenty of space in the freezer
Same as your fridge, ditch any old frozen foods that have been kicking around for way too long to make room for the Christmas goodies. Defrost the freezer to make more room too. As an added bonus it’ll use less energy when it’s frost free.
A Limescale Free Coffee Machine
For the best tasting after dinner coffee (drunk in an attempt to try and stave off the inevitable Christmas food coma), descale your coffee maker.
A Limescale Free Kettle
Ditto the above for your kettle.
Batteries
On Christmas day, batteries are like gold dust. Check the batteries in your remote controls and get some spares. Otherwise the TV remote batteries could be repurposed to run new toys and you’ll have to get up every time you want to change the volume or the channel. The horror!
Change water filters
If you have a fridge with water filters give them a change for crystal clear H2O on Christmas Day.
If any of the above are not ticked off on your list, now’s your last chance to do so. As long as you order any spares or replacements you need by 9pm on Friday 23rd December you can get them in time for Christmas.
List complete? Then all that’s left for us to do is wish you a very happy Christmas. Eat, drink and be merry!
