Remove Odours From Your Household Appliances

Our household appliances rarely get a second thought from us, until a fault occurs. Unfortunately, failure to pay attention to appliances not only leads to an increased risk in faults occurring; but can also result in unpleasant odours becoming prominent.

To help remove some of the odours from your home, at eSpares we’ve taken a look at the three common appliances to emit odours, before giving some tips on how to tackle them.

Dishwasher:

Failing to rinse food or sauces from plates before putting them into the dishwasher is going to hinder the appliance in a number of ways. The main two being:

  1. It won’t clean pots and pans as it should.
  2. Unpleasant odours build up

Thankfully, preventing such issues is an easy task and requires you to do little more than rinse food from plates before placing them in the dishwasher for a thorough clean.

To rid your appliance of any odours which may already have built up, you’ll need to clean your dishwasher and its components, including the filters and spray arms. It’s also advisable to regularly run limescale and detergent remover through your appliance.

By carrying out these simple cleaning tips, you’ll not only be left with a fresh dishwasher, but you’ll also see an improvement in its efficiency.

Washing Machine:

A smelly washing machine is a common problem for many households. One of the primary reasons for washing machines attracting unpleasant odours is due to washing clothes at lower temperatures, which in turn leads to the build up of bacteria.

Thankfully, tackling foul odours within a washing machine takes no more than three simple steps. We explain how to do it in our “How to Cure a Smelly Washing Machine” advice centre article and supporting YouTube video.

Microwave:

As with all kitchen appliances which come into contact with food, your microwave can from time to time begin to emit unpleasant smells.

These smells occur due to food being spilt or due to the microwave door being closed as soon as the food is taken out. The latter causes odours to build up within your microwave as the condensation increases the risk of bacteria building up in the appliance, with odours following.

Removing the odours, and build up of dirt, from your microwave is thankfully a simple task which can be carried out using Wellco’s Professional Microwave Cleaner, which cuts through dirt, grime and grease.

When it comes to cleaning your microwave, it’s important not to just clean the walls and turntable; but also the rotating ring, door seal and control panel.

By regularly cleaning your household appliances with dedicated cleaning products, you’ll make sure there are no unpleasant odours lingering around your home.
