Indoor Greenery

House plants are a great addition to homes. Not only do they add a bit of character and comfort but are essential in helping to cleanse the air in your home. Also with the cool months here and our spending more time indoors, it will do you a world of good to expose yourself to some extra greenery. They won’t expect much in terms of care and maintenance and will never talk back. A match made in heaven.

Some ideal plants that will survive well inside and without too much light include:

Rubber Plant
This plant is particularly resilient and lives well without a ton of light. It can also withstand cooler temperatures and removes formaldehyde and other toxins from the air. It lives best in semi-sun/ semi-shade spots.

Boston Fern

This fern produces really pretty leaves and looks great in a hanging basket or alternatively atop a pedestal. The younger the plant the more erect its leaves will stand. As it ages they will lengthen and begin to droop downward in a fountain like shape. It doesn’t require much sun light but does like to be misted and watered regularly to keep alive and well.

Peace Lily

Peace lily is an ideal indoor plant. It excels at removing alcohols, acetone, trichloroethylene, benzene and formaldehyde from the air. It lives best in mid-light to shade spots.

Miniature Date Palm

This mini palm can reach a height of 5 to 6 ½ ft but is a very slow grower so will be fine indoors for quite some time. It’s great for removing air pollutants and will do best in a semi-sunny spot.

Swiss Cheese Plant

This is a fast growing plant and is especially great at humidifying the air which is ideal in winter when the air tends to be more dry. This plant will do best in direct sunlight.

Philodendron

This plant will live well without the sun and in a shady spot. They have proven particularly effective at removing toxins from the air.

You should be able to find these anywhere plants are sold. Help make your home a happy one with some added indoor greenery. It will spruce the place up and purify the air. Who wouldn’t love that?!?
