Are you a creature of habit and stick to the same old settings for each wash? Maybe you venture out a little bit with your dedicates but that’s about it? Well, we’re here to show you the 7 washing machine settings you could be missing out on!
According to Appliance Direct, only 1 in 10 of us use all our machine’s settings, and a further 20 percent of homeowners only use one of the settings most of the time! If you’re not getting the most out of your washer, break the cycle and try out these unused settings, making your washing a whole load easier!
Extra Silent
If you like to do your chores late at night, try the extra silent setting so you don’t wake anyone up! Some washing machines have this feature which does the same job just with less noise. It’s particularly useful if you live in a flat or terraced house.
Time Delay
Not only choose how you want your washing done but when! With the time delay option, you can delay your wash for any time up to 24 hours. Time your cycle to finish just as you return home and you can have fresh washing whenever you need it.
Spin Speeds
The spin is one of the most important settings to get right! If you don’t have a dryer or have limited space to dry washing, the faster spin could really reduce your drying time. This is great for heavier items such as towels and bedsheets which hold more water.
Intelligent Dosing
If you have a newer machine, it may have the option of intelligent dosing. This new feature monitors the amount of detergent and fabric softener and only uses whats needed, clever! Simply fill your washing machine with your detergent of choice and this function will do the rest of the work for you!
Delicate and Silk Programmes
We’ve all experienced the dreaded moment when you shrink your favourite top or ruin your silk shirt! Instead of paying for these items to be dry cleaned or spending time hand washing, use your delicate settings. This can sometimes be gentler than hand washing, just be sure to use the right detergent and always check the label!
Quick Wash
When you’re washing just a small amount of laundry and you need it done fast, opt for the quick wash setting. This can pack washing and spinning into a shorter program time, sometimes around 15 minutes! Just don’t pack too much in the drum as this could make it take longer.
Sportswear Setting
Ideal when you want to freshen up your sports clothes but they don’t need a thorough wash. The machine will run a short cycle with a lower temperature to keep them fresh and prevent creases.
