How to Keep the Kids Entertained this Easter Weekend

This year, the Easter weekend is going to be a little different, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be fun! Instead of thinking of all the things we can’t do, we wanted to focus on all the things we can!
There are plenty of ways to keep yourself and your kids entertained this Easter weekend. Here are a few ideas to get you started!
An egg-cellent start to the day
It’s tradition to start off your Easter celebrations with eggs for breakfast as eggs are a sign of new life and hope. How do you like your eggs in the morning? We say you’re never too old for a runny boiled egg with soldiers!
Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate
Did we say that enough? Easter is the one day of the year you can eat as much chocolate as you like and not feel guilty at all! Let your kids indulge in the sugar rush because we’ve got lots of activities to help them use up that the energy. Make sure you take full advantage and eat your fair share too!
Host an Easter egg hunt
But first, before the chocolate consumption can begin, make them work for it! Hide as many eggs as you can all around the house and let your nearest and dearest hunt them down. (Gives you some time for a cuppa too!)
Get creative
Get out the arts and crafts and let the kids get creative by decorating some hard boiled eggs. Come up with a theme, create a scene from their favourite movie or just let them express some creativity!
Have a family picnic
Have a break from all the eggs and make some of your favourite foods. Put down a blanket indoors or outdoors and enjoy some family time. Why not video call your family and friends to let them in on the fun!
Have an egg and spoon race
Get out in your garden or even just play in your living room (just put something down to cover the carpet) and hold your very own egg and spoon race. Give a prize of even more chocolate to the winner and the kids will love it!
Bake a sweet treat
Fed up of chocolate? If that’s at all possible, then why not get the kids involved in baking some other sweet or savoury treats? Attend a virtual church
If you usually go to a church over the Easter weekend, you can still attend virtually. Many churches are holding online services so take a look at their website or social media for any information. The Church of England has also set up a website, AChurchNearYou.com where you can find your nearest one.
Watch a family film
Educate older children about the meaning of Easter with a classic such as Jesus Christ Superstar or entertain the youngsters with a family favourite like Peter Rabbit! Check out this list of the 25 best Easter movies for other great ideas.
Have a positive hour
To finish off your day, spend an hour with the family talking about things you’re all grateful for. This will keep both you and the kids positive and you can think about the things you’re looking forward to when all this is over!
We hope this has give you some ideas of what to do this Easter and we’d like to wish you and your family a fantastic weekend!
