Attack of the Killer Dishwasher

According to Elsevier, ‘the world’s leading publisher of science and health information’, your dishwasher is trying to kill you. Please note: this is the most boring thing you’re ever likely to read.
If I were you I’d check out the always excellent Register‘s take on it:
“The next time we approach our (or any) dishwasher we shall be clad in a full positive-pressure flameproof atmosphere suit. Having taken the precaution of lobbing a lit Molotov cocktail into the infested machine and slamming the door – to temporarily stun the hive within – we shall rip the entire unit from its attachments and abandon it in an unpopulated area pending the arrival of military forces who can render it safe from a distance using thermobaric warheads.”
I’m personally willing to bet that a run your dishwasher through with a sachet of limescale and detergent remover, or maybe a bit of dishwasher magic (an actual product!), and you’ll probably be safe from the pathogens looking to harvest your body. At least for a month or so.
This is a photo of Helen just after she finished reading the article about the killer dishwasher fungus. She was just as sceptical as I was. A little more even.
