How To Provide a Deeper Clean of Your Home

How clean is your home, really how clean is it? Sure you may regularly vacuum and polish, but this doesn’t mean your home is as clean as you think. It has previously been suggested that vacuuming only removes 80% of the dirt in your home – so how do you provide an even deeper clean?
The answer, use a steam cleaner.
In this post, we explain how steam cleaners work, where you can use your steam cleaner and the benefits of such a cleaning method – with the aim of convincing you, that steam cleaning your home on a regular basis is a must.
How Steam Cleaners Work:
In principal, steam cleaners work in a very simple way. They rapidly heat water past boiling point to produce steam. The steam is then forced through the nozzle of the cleaner and applied to the surface in question, at a high pressure.
By doing this, steam cleaners produce a “dry” steam which is capable of removing an array of dirt, grease and grime from various surfaces within the home, whilst killing 99.9% of common household bacteria.
The power of steam cleaning, and what makes it such an effective way to clean your home from top to bottom is the combination of pressure, speed and temperature which allows microscopic steam particles to force their way into even the hardest and tighest areas of your home.
Where To Clean With a Steam Cleaner:
When it comes to cleaning with a steam cleaner, there are an extensive array of surfaces and products which can be cleaned, including pet beds, children’s toys, floors, upholstery, mirror, mattresses and ceramic fixtures. But there are some surfaces you shouldn’t use your steam cleaner on, including:
- Delicate fabrics such as silk
- Wallpapered walls / walls with water-based paint
That said, before using your steam cleaner on any surface for the first time we recommend you check the care label / manufacturer guidelines. You should also always test the steam cleaner on a small, discrete corner.
Accessorise To Get The Most Out of Yours:
To help ensure a thorough clean of your home when using a steam cleaner, we recommend you accessorise it with the range of steam cleaner tools available, including a:
- Grout Brush
- Concentration Nozzle
- Microfibre Pads / Cloth
- Squeegee
- Upholstery Tool
Benefits of Steam Cleaning:
Steam cleaning your home brings about a multitude of benefits, both to you, your home, your wallet and the environment. Such benefits include:
- Helps to kill 99.9% of common household bacteria, ensuring the highest standard of hygiene and a healthy living environment.
- Steam cleaners have low water consumption and remove the need for various cleaning chemicals – this makes them great for the home, wallet and environment.
- Cleaning with the power of steam produces better cleaning results compared to mopping, with less effort being required.
- Using a steam cleaner, along with vacuuming, can help extend the life of your carpets. This is because whilst vacuuming removes larger debris from your floors, steam cleaning produces a deeper and more thorough clean.
- Cleaning with a steam cleaner is great for allergy sufferers at it removes a range of allergens, including dust mites, pet allergens and bed bugs. Steam cleaning can also remove pet hair and odours from your home, for an even deeper clean.
- Steam evaporates quickly, meaning when cleaning your floors you’re not trapped in the corner of the room as you wait for the area to dry – a common problem faced when mopping floors, particularly if you don’t start in the corner furthest away from the door.
- Steam cleaners are great for removing mould and bacteria from your home, and can even be used to clean the grouting between tiles. However, you should not use steam to clean marble, unsealed hardwood or concrete surfaces.
- With the squeegee tool attached to your steam cleaner, achieving clean, streak free windows is even easier and quicker.
- Stubborn dirt, grime and stains do not stand a chance when faced with steam cleaning as the power produced can remove even the toughest dirt – including wax, glue and chewing gum.
Other benefits of steam cleaning your home, can be found in our previous post “Cleaning Made Easy With a Steam Cleaner” – in which we discuss how steam cleaning can help you deep clean your home and save money.
Next time you clean your home, remember by utilising the power of steam cleaning you can provide a deeper, more thorough clean – enabling you to keep a healthy and hygienic home for all the family.

This is a great post and one i tell my clients about, steam cleaning helps maintain your home and carpets, it wont mean that you never need a professional carpet or upholstery cleaner but it will certainly help with general dirt and also a wide range of stains, much better for you then any store bought chemicals and saves you money by keeping your furnishings cleaner for longer before needing a professional clean.
