This Father’s Day, there’s plenty of ways to surprise your dad. To make it a day to remember, we have put together 5 recipes for you to show your dad how much he means to you. This is a great chance to show your appreciation to your dad and to get those cooking skills into shape.
1. Lemon, garlic and roast chicken
15g fresh rosemary,
1 garlic blub and black pepper
Preparation time: 20 min
Place the butter and rosemary in a bowl. Smear the chicken with oil and one lemon juice. The lemon shells and the rest of the lemon juice place inside the chicken. After you season it depending on your taste, place the chicken in the rosemary bowl.
Place the chicken in a preheated oven to 180°C/ gas mark 4. To adjust your timing easier, leave 45 to 55 minutes per kilogram. Alternatively, monitor the juices and roast till they run clear and there is no pink meet.
2. Balsamic-glazed salmon fillets
2 salmon fillets
1 spoon olive oil
Garlic (4-5 minced garlic)
1 glass white wine
1 spoon honey
Balsamic vinegar (85ml)
Black pepper , salt and oregano (depending on your taste)
Preparation time: 30 min
Place the garlic to preheated olive oil and cook for few minutes. Add vinegar and salt. Leave it uncovered for few more minutes and add the oregano. Brush the salmon fillets with balsamic glaze and place them on a baking tray an Put the salmon in preheated oven (200°C) and leave it for 10-15 min. After that, you can smear the remaining glaze on the fillets. You can serve dish over a baby leaf salad, adding chopped onion and red pepper to add extra value to the salad.
3. Peppercorn steak and chips
2tbsp black peppercorn
Chips to complement the steak
Preparation time: 15 min
Coat the steak in the peppercorn. In heated oil, add the tomatoes and garlic and leave it for few minutes. Add the steak and cook it for 1-2 min on each side. There are no rules for how many minutes each side should be cooked, so you can adjust the timing, depending on your/your dad’s preference. Put together the yoghurt, mustard and basil. Stir for a minute and get ready to serve. To make your dish look complete, you can add chips or potato wedges with garlic mayo dip, depending on preferences.
4. Beef burger
Minced beef chuck steak Cheddar
Coriander (depending on taste, usually 25g) 2 tsp olive oil
Chopped onion and red pepper Salt
Mayonnaise Black pepper
Preparation time: 20-25min
Mix all burger ingredients and stir them fro few minutes. Use your hands to shape the burger in the form you prefer. Place the burger on the grill and cook the burger for 15 min, turning once and place the cheese, 2 minutes before the end of the cooking time. To make the overall effect more attractive, mix together mayonnaise, lattice and red pepper and serve it along with the burger.
5. Chicken wings with cumin, lemon& garlic
2-3 chicken wings
2 garlic cloves
Crushed zest and lemon juice
1 table spoon cumin seed
1 tsp olive oil
1 tsp honey
Preparation time: 10 min
Cut the chicken wings into two pieces. Mix the garlic, lemon zest and juice, cumin and oil and seasoned depending on taste. Coat the chicken wings into the dish. Marinate for one hour in the fridge (ideally overnight). If you are planning an outdoor celebration, heat the barbecue to 180°C/200°C. Grill the wings for 20 minutes, alternatively, if you prefer using an oven, heat the oven to 180°C and beak for 45-50 minutes. To make the dish look even more appetizing, fill small bowls with olives or pickled chilies and serve alongside with the chicken wings.
