6 Quick Fixes You've Been Putting Off!

It’s the little things that make a big difference! That’s why completing those annoying little fixes around the home can make you feel a whole lot better.

It’s easy to ignore those smaller chores on the list and concentrate on the bigger projects. But, if you’re tired of that constant dripping tap or looking at those scratches on the coffee table, then you’re in luck because we’ve got some quick fixes that can take less than 5 minutes and will leave you feeling super proud!

Trickling Tap

Depending on the culprit of your dripping tap, this quick fix may vary but it’s more than likely to be due to a worn washer or the O-ring (the rubber ring around the tap.) Try turning the taps off one at a time to determine which is causing the drip. Then, shut off the water, disassemble the faulty tap and replace the washer and O-ring.

Pesky Peeling

It’s one of those annoying things you keep seeing out of the corner of your eye but don’t worry, you don’t have to replace the entire wallpaper! Simply smear some wallpaper paste onto a piece of paper and rub it against the underside of the peeling section. Press the wallpaper against the wall and slide the paper out, smoothing the bubbles away with a clean cloth! 5-minute job and no more peeling wall!

Close Up Of Door Hinge On Wooden Door

Creepy Creaks

Those niggling squeaks you forget about until you open the door aren’t going to go away on their own! Fix it by using a little of the trusty WD-40 spray or rub the hinges with petroleum jelly. If this doesn’t work, try lifting the hinge pins about halfway and lubricate them with three-in-one oil, using a rag to catch the drips. Voila, no more squeaky doors!

Dodgy Drain

If it’s making the washing up 10 times harder, fix it with some baking soda! Mix 1/3 of a cup of baking soda with 1/3 of a cup of vinegar in a measuring cup. As it starts to fizz, pour it straight down the sink as this fizzing action will help remove gunk, hair, and grime that has built up then flush with hot water. Your sink will be back up and running in no time!

Menace Marks

Instead of covering up wood scratches them with a coaster, get rid of them with something that’s already in your cupboard – coffee! Mix the coffee grounds with vinegar and warm water and gently rub it on the scratched surface. Allow it to soak for 10 minutes then buff the scratches away with a rag. (Just be sure not to accidentally scrub grounds into cracks as they might leave behind stains.)

Wobbly Washer

If your washer or dryer is making an awful lot of noise when spinning, it could be that it’s not balanced properly. This could be as simple as adjusting the feet! Most washing machines and dryers come with adjustable feet that just need matching up. Check out our how-to video for tips on how to do this.
