Behind the Scenes of an eSpares Video Shoot

Here at eSpares, we make lots and lots (hundreds in fact) of how-to videos that help people to fix their appliance themselves. Our mission is to make it as easy as possible to mend faulty appliances, even for people with no prior knowledge of repairs. How do we do it?

Well, I thought I’d give you all a sneak peek behind the scenes:

(I’ll just take this moment to sincerely apologise for my acting skills or lack thereof. Writing’s more my bag, I’ll admit.)

The Making of an eSpares Video

For those of you too distracted by the cheesiness above to focus on what was being said, these are the steps that lead to the creation of a how-to video in all its splendour.

Step 1

One of our experienced engineers writes the video script, based on their own repairs knowledge.

Step 2

The video is shot and it’s usually Mat, long-term member of the eSpares team and appliance enthusiast, in front of the camera.

Here are a few more behind the scenes pics of Mat in action:

Step 3

For people who prefer to read instructions rather than watch videos we put together a step by step guide to accompany the video on our Advice Centre.

Step 4

We upload the videos to our YouTube channel and pop them on our Advice Centre too, where they can start helping people with their fixes straight away.

When your appliance has a wobbly door or a loose knob don’t just let yourself get used to it and live with the annoyance. Take the first step towards fixing your appliance yourself and…

Trust us, the sense of achievement following a successful fix feels amazing. So good in fact that there are a whole host of other feel-good moments that just can’t compare to an appliance repair.

When I found a strange thing on the floor in the kitchen I kept it safe for a while to see if the aliens would come back for it. Then another wheel fell off my dishwasher basket, but I’d thrown the first one away. I googled for dishwasher wheels and found my heroes. I have bought lots of odd bits from you over the years, and recommended you to my friends.

I am more confident of my abilities now. You have confirmed my impression that many jobs that only men can do are jobs I can do if I have the right tools and spares. I even bought a socket set from Sainsburys because it was in a bright pink case and my husband who stole any other tools I bought was afraid of it. It stayed intact.

    ESpares are magnificent!
