Keep Warm This Winter With Heaters

Keep Warm This Winter With Heaters

It’s a fact of life that we’re great at losing heat but not very good at retaining it. There’s the old wives tale of wearing a hat helps to retain heat, as we lose most of our heat from our heads – however, this is a myth. But as winter fast approaches, it’s time for us to consider about how we are going to keep heat within our homes.

The first choice will be to put the heating on (or, if you’re like me, put another jumper on first and then, maybe the heating will come on), ensuring that every nook and cranny is kept warm during the winter months.

Then there are those homeowners that do not have central heating, or maybe need additional heating sources in various parts of the house – such as conservatories and garages – so what about these homeowners.

At eSpares, we’d recommend a portable source of heating, such as….

Panel Heaters:

Finding the right heating source can be a difficult task, especially when the options available are so varied, even once you’ve taken your requirements and budget into consideration. To give you a helping hand, we’ve taken some of the hard work out of the equation for you, and believe one heating option that you should seriously consider is a panel heater.

At eSpares, we’ve noticed as winters come and go, that panel heaters are becoming a common choice for both homeowners and businesses looking to provide an extra source of heat. One of the reasons that such heaters are becoming increasingly popular is that the design enables the heaters to provide almost instant heat into required area.

Along with providing a rapid source of heat, panel heaters, such as the Dimplex DXL400WP, are also a great heating option for asthma sufferers, as unlike their fan heater counterparts, they do not blow dust around and therefore keep allergens at a low level.

Whilst portable heating will keep your rooms warm and toasty, there are those areas of the home which your heating cannot get to, such as the bed. In these situations, consider investing in…

Overblankets / Underblankets:

It’s a (slightly) strange thing, but many of us enjoy it; the feel of getting into bed after crisp, fresh sheets have been put on. There’s no rhyme or reason as to why it brings such a sensation, but it does.

Unfortunately, getting into a freshly made bed with clean sheets during the winter doesn’t bring the same satisfaction, as the cold winter chill which seems to hide on the sheets takes over, leaving many of us to wrap ourselves tight in the duvet in an attempt to keep warm.

Other steps that are commonly taken ahead of bed-time during the winter months includes placing a hot-water bottle under the duvet; yet the hot-water bottle only tends to provide heat to a limited area, which when in a double bed isn’t ideal.

So how do you combat this? You could try a number of hot-water bottles, or alternatively you could guarantee a nice warm toasty bed by taking advantage of an electric underblanket, which fits snugly under your sheets to keep your bed at a comfortable temperature before you get in and during the night (if you so desire).

Alternatively, take advantage of an electric overblanket which works in the same way as your duvet (in that it goes on the top of your bed), and comes with a range of heat settings to warm your bed up and keep you warm throughout the night with its various heat settings.

Providing additional heating sources such as those mentioned above, means that once winter arrives despite the weather outside being frightful, you’ll be able to keep warm and cosy with the family, enjoying a hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows.
